A long nose can make a face appear as elongated and older due to compositional imbalance.
It is mainly caused by longer nasal septum or droopy alar cartilage which may require a correction.
Long noses often carry bumps in the middle of nose bridge. Such nose can be corrected by straightening
its bump and rotating its tip upward.

- ■ Elevating the alar cartilage
- The dropped alar cartilage is fixed to
the nasal septum thus it is rotated
upward and the nosetip is raised.
- ■ Trimming the septal cartilage
- Trimming the end of septal cartilage can
elevate the nasal tip. And if necessary, the
resected cartilage can be grafted on the
nasal bridge so that the alar cartilage can
be more rotated.
